well it seems to work (after the initial install), upon hearing from maker ,i understand why they manufacture in china ,still we need to stick together an on-shore everything we can . i have been using the very functional product more and more .

It may work for other equipment, but definitely not for my ellipcal machine. The laptop screen is too close to my eyes to feel comfortable. I ended up returning it after a day.

I am 100% satisfied with this purchase. Before I purchased this, I had a question about compatibility with my MacBook and my treadmill. My emails were returned within minutes and shipping was prompt as well.
I’m happy to report that since I can now use my computer while on the treadmill, I have actually logged much more time on there than in the past. It is a great way to multitask as well as to make the treadmill sessions more enjoyable.
It works perfectly with my Keys treadmill and my 17″ MacBook Pro.
I highly recommend this product and am glad that I opted to spend a bit more money and get a premium product that will safely hold my computer with a velcro strap so that I don’t risk it falling and being damaged. Unfortunately the Surf Shelf is too wide to fit between the handlebars of my Diamondback 960sr recumbent bycycle [This was a 2009 model purchased 11/09]…
{I looked…the 2010 model #1000-1100 etc may work with Surf Shelf}.
If I had carefully perused every page at Surf Shelf I would have found a page [under 'How It Works'] titled ‘Will Not Fit.’

I did talk with the Randy Fenton the owner [he called me back the next day after I left a VM] and he confirmed it did not work with my machine. He offered to refund the $ [or I could do it via Amazon where I bought it.].
I recommend the product because the owner stands behind it.
